DBKL Demolishes Lembah Pantai - Kampung Kerinchi Road-side Shops and Trader Stalls.

On my way home, I took these pics of DBKL enforcement personnel demolishing many shops and stalls along the roadside of Jalan Bukit Angkasa, Bukit Kerinchi. I go to many of the stalls there for conveniences so I stopped to go visit some of them to get the low-down on the demolishing.

The stalls along Jalan Bukit Angkasa are all being relocated to the new Pantai Bazaria Hawker's Centre, not too far away. And the stalls being demolished are stalls that are vacant and the traders been given and already relocated to stall units at Pantai Bazaria.

THE PROBLEM STILL IS:
1. Many of the traders along Jalan Bukit Angkasa HAVE NOT gotten confirmation on their stall unit at Pantai Bazaria. I was told many of them had to go to DBKL several times to check and complain, and as of this morning, are still totally in the dark on their new stall units.

2. The traders said to me that they were PROMISED FIRST PRIORITY for new stall units at the new Pantai Bazaria BY FT MINISTER, RAJA NONG CHIK, HOWEVER, MANY OF THEM HAVE NOT RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF THEIR NEW STALL UNITS. SOME OF THEM HAVE EVEN HAD THEIR LISTINGS DISAPPEAR from the DBKL allocations list.

3. What is worse is the traders complained to me that even though they were promised priority, they have not gotten any reply from DBKL on their new stalls BUT TRADERS FROM AS FAR AS SG. BESI HAVE ALREADY MOVED IN to the new stalls units at Pantai Bazaria and started business, COMPETING AND GAINING BUSINESS AT THE LOSS OF THE EXISTING TRADERS along Jalan Bukit Angkasa.

4. These traders, especially the conveniences and news stand traders are LOSING BUSINESS BY THE DAY, because a) They have stopped stocking up on new goods (like my fav Surya) and b) The demolishing and state of the demolished stalls has left the whole street to become quite unvisitable.
